In winter, the days are gloomy and many walks take place at dusk or in the dark. To ensure that nothing happens to dogs and their owners, it is important to make sure that everyone is clearly visible.

Walkers, cyclists and animals are very difficult to see in winter. In addition to darkness, fog, rain or snowfall further restrict visibility. Reflectors are a good way to increase visibility in the dark. Luminous or reflective collars are available for dogs, including an extra-wide version for long-haired breeds. LED lights can also be attached to the chest harness, dog lead or dog coat. Reflective vests are now also available for dogs.

"Especially if the dog is running free or on a flexi lead, it should be made clearly visible to avoid accidents," warns Ruth Jily, Head of the Veterinary Office, adding: "Owners should also protect themselves with reflective elements on their own clothing."
