Energy Climate Tech Forum 2025: Ideas, technologies and dialog for the energy transition

The second Energy Climate Tech Forum (ECTF) will take place at the Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center on April 29, 2025. Under the motto "Energy Transition 2050", decision-makers from business, research and politics will come together to discuss key future issues of the energy transition - in a practical, cross-industry and solution-oriented manner. pro.earth will be on site as the official media partner and will report directly from the event in reports, interviews and social media formats.
Focus on green technologies and new collaboration
The forum focuses on current developments and concrete solutions: from green hydrogen to energy storage solutions, intelligent energy management and start-ups and scale-ups that provide new impetus for the market. Innovation ecosystems, financing options and digital tools - such as AI applications - are also part of the program.
Keynotes, workshops and RealTalk
The event will kick off with high-profile keynote speeches by Nils Müller (TRENDONE), Prof. Bernhard Lingens (University of Lucerne) and Prof. Michael Harasek (Vienna University of Technology), among others, who will provide insights into innovation strategies and the role of hydrogen. This will be followed by interactive formats, including a design thinking workshop on the development of sustainable energy projects and a panel discussion on the status of the energy transition with representatives from IIASA, Wienerberger and FFG.
Start-ups and companies in dialog
In the afternoon, start-ups such as EExion, Exnaton and sonnnig will present innovative solutions - from battery storage to energy billing via AI. Companies such as EVN Biogas, INNIO Jenbacher and Vienna Airport will show how sustainable energy supply is already being put into practice today.
One thematic focus is on green hydrogen. Potentials and challenges for production, storage and application will be discussed in several sessions - with experts from HyCentA, Fronius and the Schmidt Kranz Group.
A look into the future
At the latest during the concluding strategy session on "2050 and beyond", it becomes clear that the energy transition needs long-term perspectives, legal clarity, technological openness - and strong networks. Funding and financing issues are also in focus, with contributions from Erste Bank, AWS and the Vienna Business Agency.
Space for exchange
In addition to the specialist program, the forum offers many opportunities for personal exchange: networking zones, interactive sessions and a joint end to the day with a view from the highest tower in Europe create the basis for new collaborations and ideas.
