Burgenland has become a pioneer in the field of renewable energies. There are 445 wind turbines with an output of 1,333 MW connected to the grid in Burgenland.

The wind turbines generate 3 billion kWh per year, providing clean electricity for more than 875,000 households and covering 177% of Burgenland's electricity consumption.

2030 Climate neutral

Burgenland embarked on the path towards renewable energies years ago and is pursuing ambitious goals. One of these is the target of being climate-neutral by 2030.

The expansion of wind power is a key factor in Burgenland's planned climate neutrality. In the space of a decade, the share of renewable energies has increased from 25 percent to 50 percent. This growth spurt has not only boosted the local economy, but has also accelerated the energy transition in Burgenland.

Austria's largest producer

As Austria's largest wind power producer, Burgenland is focusing on the consistent repowering of existing wind power plants in Burgenland. Burgenland generates more than 35 percent of its total energy from wind power alone.
