The climate is about to collapse and we are going shopping in a relaxed manner

Admittedly, the complexity of the climate crisis is overwhelming and a solution cannot be thought of one-dimensionally. Nevertheless, when I sometimes ask around, I get the feeling that it might not even exist.

How else can it be that we continue to consume vast quantities of meat and dairy products from the supermarket shelves without batting an eyelid, drive our cars wherever we go, but preferably right into the foyer, bury the world under mountains of garbage and then look forward to the next sale.

Can we still be saved???!

London-based psychoanalyst Sally Weintrobe says that the climate crisis and a sustainable lifestyle that is conducive to it are taking us out of our comfort zone to such an extent that we have to be very strong to endure it. It is simply not socially compatible. She is right.

As a vegan, for example, she was asked to bring her own menu when she was invited to a meal. If she wants to leave the island without flying, she is exposed to ridicule from her colleagues.

If we were to think even further and translate driving, consumption, electricity consumption - the big issues - into our daily lives, we would be in quite a corner. That's right.

The only alternative that presents itself is repression - for those who do not deny climate change, this certainly includes a guilty conscience. Or resignation, which is underpinned by statements such as "that's the way it is", "there's no way out", "that's it". This is obviously the easier way.

The challenge facing our society now is to reinvent itself. We believe it can be done. When you see how quickly the high cost of energy and living costs are causing people to rethink, it must also be possible when it comes to the survival of future generations.

Maybe we can topple the first domino in the right direction together.💚
