Take advantage of the subsidy for your new boiler!

Heating is a significant CO2 emission factor in Austria. The "Get out of oil and gas" campaign by the Ministry of Climate Protection will therefore continue in 2023 and 2024, which surprisingly many people are not even aware of, as a recent survey by the Energy Trend Monitor 2023 commissioned by Stiebel Eltron revealed. According to the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, there are over 600,000 boilers in operation in Austria that are between 15 and 30 years old. These should be replaced with climate-friendly alternatives asap.

What is supported?

The conversion to a connection to a highly efficient or climate-friendly local/district heating system is subsidized first. If this is not possible, the switch to a wood-fired central heating system or a heat pump is subsidized.

Federal and state subsidies

Anyone replacing their oil or gas heating system with a climate-friendly alternative such as a heat pump will now receive 7,500 euros or more, depending on the federal state, under the latest funding programs. The federal government is making a total of almost 2 billion euros available for renovations up to 2026. There are also financial injections from the federal states. The government's aim is to replace fossil fuels with renewable energies and improve the CO2 balance. Furthermore, the move away from natural gas should make the country less dependent on imports and reduce energy costs.

Who can apply for funding?

Subsidies are available for private individuals as well as for associations and companies. You can find out more on the websites below.
