Community-supported agriculture - what is it actually?

Imagine a world in which producers and customers are in the same boat. In which we can enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables every day without packaging and without looking at the label of origin. A world in which everything that lives is treated with the highest level of respect - then you will surely think of solidarity agriculture.

Community Supported Agriculture

This is the unwieldy name for a very simple and clear idea.

It involves the association of farmers with consumers. This association contractually shares the responsibility, the benefits and also the risks of an agricultural business with farmers.

Not only that, but you can often help out and have your say.

Ecological and sustainable management is the top priority here. Food is not seen as a commodity, but as a so-called common good. Every member should have the opportunity to buy seasonal, organic, fresh, regional and therefore healthy products.

How does it work?

There are different approaches in which the idea of risk distribution is shared between farmers AND buyers:

Individual contracts

These are cooperation agreements between farmers and individuals. Depending on the agreement, they receive goods (or common property) according to season in return

Customer corporation

Refers to the association of buyers. Here, one or more buyers enter into a cooperation agreement with one or more producers and take over the distribution of the products.

Co-entrepreneurship

This variant refers to the social participation of customers in a producer company. This can be based on an existing producer company, but also on a group of buyers who, for example, set up a distribution company.
