First Austrian Green Planet Building® Award 2024 for the "Wood'Art" in Toulouse.

Made in Austria: The Wood'Art hotel and residential complex forms the visual "heart of wood" of the Cartoucherie eco-neighborhood in Toulouse, France. Impressive and stylish design meets sustainable construction methods and space for biodiversity. That deserves the AGPB Award!

The mixed-use project designed by Dietrich | Untertrifaller consists of an eleven-storey tower and two residential complexes. Shielded from the street by gardens, they are connected to the tower by an inner pedestrian zone. The gardens serve as meeting spaces for the residents, form a reserve for biodiversity and counteract heat islands.

The architectural concept made it possible to create a visual "landmark" while at the same time ensuring permeability. Apart from a concrete core for the traffic routes, the entire superstructure from the ground floor upwards was constructed using prefabricated timber modules. This shortened the construction time while at the same time reducing the amount of waste produced.

Energy efficiency and renewable energy supply are the focus of the Austrian Green Planet Building® (AGPB) Award. This transfers the objectives and criteria of the national climate protection initiative klimaaktiv for the construction and real estate industry to the international environment. AGPB honors the outstanding achievements of Austrian planning offices, consultants, construction companies and production companies abroad in the field of sustainable building.

AGPB is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA.
