Mobility is indispensable in everyday life and offers a great opportunity for climate protection: measures in the field of active mobility can not only reduce CO2 emissions, but also improve the quality of life of Austrians. The "klimaaktiv mobil" program, which was launched on April 2, is part of the Climate Protection Initiative of the Ministry of Climate Protection (BMK) and focuses on supporting environmentally friendly and health-promoting mobility. The Climate and Energy Fund supports projects in the area of "active mobility and mobility management" with 95 million euros, funded by the Climate Protection Ministry.

The "klimaaktiv mobil" funding campaign for municipalities, businesses and private individuals is being extended

Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler: "We are all on the move a lot, whether in the city, in the community or in the countryside. Active mobility, such as walking or cycling, will be an integral part of the mobility concepts of the future - because it conserves resources, saves space, is emission-free and promotes health. I am therefore delighted that we are supporting these sustainable and climate-friendly mobility projects with the Climate and Energy Fund's 'Active Mobility and Mobility Management' funding program."

Climate and Energy Fund Managing Director Bernd Vogl: "Greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector are considerable and must be reduced. With this program, we are therefore supporting cities and municipalities, companies, clubs, associations and private individuals in implementing climate-friendly, sustainable mobility projects."

Funding campaign "klimaaktiv mobil - active mobility and mobility management"

Funding is provided for climate-friendly and health-promoting measures in the transport sector, including

  • Mobility management measures,
  • (Electric) transport, folding and bicycles,
  • Bicycle parking facilities,
  • high-speed cycle connections and also
  • the expansion of cycle path networks and
  • Concepts relating to local pedestrian traffic.

Several measures can be combined within one submission. If different relevant stakeholders are also involved (e.g. other local authorities, developers, transport companies) and awareness-raising measures are implemented, this can have a positive effect on the funding amount.

Funding period

The action program "klimaaktiv mobil - Active mobility and mobility management" is open from 02.04.2024 to 28.02.2025 (12:00 noon).
