Bee migration exchange - report areas online that offer the best food for bees

A dating platform that combines bees and flowers - we could have thought of that too!

Farmers, gardeners, winegrowers and other owners of large flowering areas offer them online on the bee migration exchange.

Beekeepers then walk to the indicated places with their hives.

A classic win-win situation: pollination rates and yields increase in the city, for beekeepers the well-being of their protégés and, last but not least, the honey harvest could be more abundant. All flowering meadow owners are therefore invited to register possible locations.

What is the bee migration exchange?

The Bee Migration Exchange is a free service of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vienna and connects beekeepers with agricultural businesses, but also with companies and municipalities.

Registered businesses and institutions have the opportunity to offer areas as migration sites that provide an attractive nectar and pollen supply for honey bees.

Conversely, registered beekeepers can also express their interest in hiking to certain foraging areas (= foraging areas for bees).

Overall, the website provides all the information both for beekeepers and for businesses that would like to make their land available.

pro.earth annotation:

We are not entirely clear about the issue of allowing plant protection products within the legally prescribed framework on the areas made available - there is no obligation to report these to the beekeeper. Do they really not harm the bees?
