First Austrian Green Planet Building® Award 2023 for the "markas Headquarters" in Bolzano

Sustainable construction "Made in Austria": Working well and comfortably

The office building in Bolzano, Italy, is striking on the outside, flexible on the inside and, with 1,800 plants, sets standards for their use in climate regulation.

Sustainable construction and well-being go hand in hand in the "markas Headquarters". ATP architekten & ingenieure created a visually striking building: the V-shaped façade structure supports the building at its nodes and enables the column-free, flexible open office concept. The office areas start at a height of 20 meters, while the "air floors" below serve as recreational space. If necessary, additional density can be added downwards. The open green space at a height of 14 meters accommodates a cafeteria and outdoor work areas. On the forecourt, a water basin and eight-metre-high trees serve as climate regulators. A heat pump supplies the switchable low-temperature system which, together with the controlled ventilation system, is responsible for a good indoor climate. The automated sun protection reduces the cooling energy requirement despite the large window areas.

Energy efficiency and renewable energy supply are the focus of the Austrian Green Planet Building® (AGPB) Award. This transfers the objectives and strict criteria of the national climate protection initiative klimaaktiv for the construction and real estate industry to the international environment. The outstanding achievements of Austrian planning offices, consultants, construction companies and production companies abroad in the field of sustainable building - Austrian Green Planet Building® honors them.

AGPB is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA.
