A handful of household remedies are all you need for a radiant home

Window cleaners, toilet cleaners, scouring milk, tile cleaners, carpet cleaners, limescale removers - just a small selection of the products that keep our home in tip-top condition, but all we need is things like baking soda, alcohol, vinegar, citric acid, soda and curd soap to make our nest shine.

My cleaning products cupboard is overflowing. This is not necessarily a sign of excessive cleanliness - more a sign of unstructured shopping sprees, which are probably always based on a certain hope that the mere possession of these cleaning products will improve the cleanliness of my home. This is not the case.

That's why I decided to change my habits and make my own cleaning products. It sounds complicated, but it's not at all, especially as just a few ingredients that we might have in the house anyway are enough.

Rinse aid

Five tablespoons of citric acid dissolved in a quarter liter of warm water and mixed with 250 milliliters of alcohol after cooling makes our dishes shine again.

Wood floor care products

A cup of vegetable oil, the juice of half a lemon, a liter of water and half a cup of alcohol make a wonderful wood floor care product to which a little essential oil can also be added for a pleasant fragrance. Incidentally, it can be used for all types of wooden floors, regardless of the coating.

Window cleaner

I clean my windows with vinegar water, but you can also add alcohol and washing-up liquid to it - then it's guaranteed to be streak-free.

Stain remover for laundry

100 ml of alcohol with four tablespoons of grated curd soap and ¼ l of water is used to remove a wide variety of stains.

Vinegar for the washing machine

A tablespoon of vinegar can be added to each wash cycle as a fabric softener. Don't worry about the smell - it will evaporate completely!

To clean the washing machine and remove bad odors, you can also empty it once by adding half a liter of vinegar to the washing chamber.

Once you get to grips with this topic, the application possibilities are endless, simply by considering the effect of the individual ingredients.

The antiseptic effect of alcohol or the limescale-dissolving effect of citric acid vinegar can also be used on their own. It takes a little practice and perhaps a willingness to rethink and you're ready to go. Of course, a few drops of essential oil can also provide a fresh scent everywhere, which simply has to go hand in hand with cleaning.

Now all we need is the right mindset and a heart-filling playlist and there's nothing standing in the way of a perhaps even happy cleaning campaign with saved money and plastic. Have fun!!! 💚
