Incense from your own garden

The Rauhnächte have begun, as has the time for burning incense. In the past, it was about driving away evil, avoiding illness and starting the new year fresh and happy, cleansed of old burdens. Today, we burn incense at different times, for example when we move into a new home etc.

We #Beetschwestern find many of the ingredients for smoking in our garden. These are free from pesticides. We collect them and dry them in a semi-shady place. Then we store them in a dark place in a dry container.

Suitable herbs for incense include:

  • Thyme (promotes self-confidence and courage)
  • Rosemary (cleansing, promotes concentration)
  • Lavender (cleansing, balancing)
  • Lovage (cleansing, herb of love)
  • Sage (cleans rooms after quarrels, clarifying and invigorating)
  • Juniper berries (strengthens the immune system, creates clarity)

In addition:

  • Mugwort (one of the oldest incense plants, cleanses and strengthens intuition)
  • Angelica (anxiety-relieving, calming and protective)
  • Spruce resin (healing)
  • Styrax (aphrodisiac, calming and relaxing, expectorant)
  • Rose petals (aphrodisiac)

We #Beetschwestern wish you lots of fun with it. Now we can already plan what we would like to see growing in our garden/on our patio/balcony next year, for example plants for smoking!
