It's finally here - the fruit preserving season. Clean preserving jars or bottles are essential for this.

We'll show you three safe ways to sterilize your jars.

In a water bath

This is probably the most popular method for sterilizing jars. All you need is a large pot.

  1. The water must first be placed in a large pot.
  2. Place the open jars and lids inside, making sure they are completely covered with water.
  3. Now bring the water to the boil and leave the jars in for ten minutes - done.

In the oven

This option is particularly suitable if you want to clean a lot of glasses or large glasses.

  1. First, rinse the jars with hot water. This can easily be done by pouring water from the kettle over them, for example.
  2. Now put them in the oven (preheated to 130 degrees). The lids are only sterilized with hot water (step 1).
  3. Bake the jars for 15 minutes.
  4. Then leave to cool or remove from the oven with gloves.

In the dishwasher

This method is also suitable for a large number of jars. We only recommend it if you want to sterilize so many jars that the dishwasher will be full. As no dirty dishes are otherwise allowed in this variant, anything else would be a complete waste of energy.

  1. Put the jars in your dishwasher. The lids also need to be rinsed, so put them in individually.
  2. Select the machine's hottest setting and start the program without adding dishwasher detergent or dishwasher tabs.
  3. Fill it as quickly as possible after this process.

Now nothing stands in the way of long-lasting fruit enjoyment. Have fun! 💚
