Saving the world with biochar - Part 3 "What helps animals also helps us"

"The cool thing is that this biochar is so pure, you can eat it!" assures Dominik Dunst. And it's good for you. After all, biochar is an old household remedy that we all know: The charcoal comprettes from the first-aid kit help against diarrhea.

Biochar binds pollutants and toxins and makes us healthier. But it doesn't just help us humans. At their farm in Pinkafeld, Gerald and Dominik Dunst have optimized beneficial charcoal feed for various animals using different mixtures - in the interests of animal health. Calves are cured of the notorious calf diarrhea and chicken manure is made odorless.

In the same way, the direct addition of manure reduces the smell and even increases the yield of biogas plants.

All in all, biochar helps threefold:

- Firstly, biochar binds harmful and toxic substances in the stomach and intestinal tract,

- Secondly, it is good for the animals and they need fewer antibiotics and

- thirdly, slurry and manure smell less.
